What are the treatments for esophageal cancer?
The preferred treatment is dependent on two main factors: the extent of the cancer and the general health state of the person.
For patients who have
very early stage disease where it has not spread to lymph nodes or deep into the esophagus, surgery alone may be appropriate.
For patients with
more advanced stage disease there are a number of different ways to treat esophageal cancer including: surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.
